steve strunk

Owner/Master Instructor/Coach

Coach Strunk has 20+ years experience instructing and coaching and has a passion for sharing his knowledge and love for the game.

 

Instructed & Consulted 20,000+ Players and Coaches on and off the ice.
Played 2 yrs. USHL Junior A, 4 yrs. D-1 Colorado College, 5 years Professional AHL, IHL, ECHL.
Hockey Experience
Coach Steve grew up in North Central Wisconsin playing youth and high school hockey. After high school he played 2 years in the USHL Junior A and captained the Madison Capitols. His continued development earned him a scholarship to play D-1 at Colorado College where he captained the team. After 4 years of college hockey, he continued his hockey journey playing 5 years of professional hockey in the ECHL, IHL and AHL. He is also a product of USA hockey competing in 2 Olympic Festivals and the World University Games.

Coaching Experience
In addition to conducting hockey camps throughout North America and Europe for 20+ years, Steve and his staff work year-round training players conducting clinics, individual/group lessons, and hockey consulting. Steve has also worked with the German Ice Hockey Federation and coached U18 HS Team to National Championship

  • Involved with AAA hockey for over 13 years and works with players on and off the ice with a focus on development

  • Coached and won the peewee Quebec tournament in 2016 

  • Coached the first U.S. girls' team in the peewee Quebec tournament 

  • 11-year coach of the Worlds Selects International tournament 

    • 7-time world selects champion

jackson wilson

Jackson began his coaching career in 2017 as the 10U AA assistant coach for Boulder Hockey. In 2018, he was selected as a Coach Intern for USA Hockey’s 14U Western Region High Performance Camp. He then spent 2019 and 2020 as the Boulder Hockey Club 10U On-Ice Director and head coach of 10AA before becoming the 8u On-Ice Director and Learn to Play Director in the Spring of 2021. While at Boulder Hockey, Jackson was selected as “Coach of the Year” in 2019 by the association out of more than 75 coaches. In August of 2021, Jackson was hired to become the Hockey Director of River City Sportplex and the Grand Junction River Hawks Hockey Club. Jackson's enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge of hockey creates a positive and encouraging environment at River City Sportplex.

A native of New Brighton Minnesota, Neil played his youth and high school hockey in the Irondale hockey program. After high school, Neil played four years of collegiate hockey and soccer at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Systems in 2002. He earned his MBA in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Colorado State University in 2015.

Neil has coached at all youth levels in Colorado for Boulder, Aspen, and the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders Tier 1 program. He also spent four years as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Spokane Americans Youth Hockey Organization before returning to Boulder Hockey in 2020, where he had previously served as Assistant Director of Hockey Operations from 2012-2015.

In the 2022-2023 season, Neil coached the RoughRiders 14U AAA team to a Colorado State Championship.

Matt Huckins

Currently the 8U Hockey Director for the Roughriders, Huckins has worked professionally as a coach or director for 25 years. He was the Boulder Hockey Club Hockey Director from 2001-2011, helping take the program to the USA National tournament for multiple years. From 2012-2019 Matt Coached U12/13/14/16 Tier I teams for the RoughRiders winning State and District championships with a National Championship appearance during that time.
